Question Uploading Hit Counters - Question/Problem

I am trying to install a hit counter...a free one....the site says to just copy code and paste into web page file using notepad then upload file. With FlashFXP my web page is loaded and I use Edit to add or update....What do I do to get the hit counter to the web page?
