Default Portable Upgrade from 4.x to 5.x

I see information in the FAQ for the regular version upgrade instructions.

What about portable versions?

Should we install to same directory as 4.x?

Will the settings and site be retained?

Thanks!

I would recommend creating a backup of your current portable folder or installing version 5 into a new folder.

This way you have a working copy of v4.x just in case you experience an unexpected problem with v5.0.

When migrating the data files from v4.x to v5.0 there's always a rare or unexpected chance that something might go wrong or it may fail so you need a way to recover your settings if needed.

Will a restore of v4.0 settings and sites work in the v5.0?

Yes.

When restoring a backup file flashfxp first checks the version that created the backup and then on restore it applies the required transformations to make the file format compatible.
