Default CHMOD Problem

Hi,

During some testing of several cms packages, i think i have come across a problem with CHMODing files to 444. I tried using flashfxp to CHMOD confi.php to 444, its says it has, but attributes still show it as 644. To double check i jumped into cpanel and used its file management application and successfully CHMODed the config.php to 444, refreshed FlashFXP and i now shows its attributes correctly.

Here is some images. First showing the failed CHMOD with FlashFXP and the second done with cpanel and then i have refreshed flashFXP.

And a log (this is the same log as the first image)

tried flushing dir cache after chmod?
does it behave the same way with other files too? maybe some script is monitoring config.php for such changes thru ftp and instantly revert back to r-r-r?

Yes flushed directory cache. Just tested on seversl other files and it behaves the same way. I can CHMOD files to anything else but 444. The script using the config.php file is also telling me that it needs to be 444, before continuing. After CHMODing via cpanel the script continues.

On another note has anyone had their sigs deleted? I'v had to redo mine again.

Well i can hardly think this is a FlashFXP issue:

[R] SITE CHMOD 444 config.php
[R] 200 Permissions changed on config.php

The server said it changed but it hasn't. I tested this is on my own server and the SITE CHMOD 444 worked just fine. So my bet is that there is some kind of bug in the ftpd.

ya, it could be that this server is doing permission check and not letting you change to something it consider bad.
just to be sure, try doing same with ftp.exe

Ok the server uses pure-ftpd and it appears to be a bug/feature of this ftp software.
Still looking into it further.
