Default small transfer mode problem?

With rc4 build 1010, I just noticed something weird.

I mirrored the suse root directory and before starting the transfer I switched the transfer mode from auto to binary.
But after the download completed I noticed some files where still transferred in ASCII mode.

I think this shouldn't happen?

I'm not sure which version ftp.nl.uu.net is running, but one of the files which gave a 'problem' is located here:
/pub/linux/suse/i386/9.1/dosutils/weirdx/weirdx.html

even in binary mode it still transfers in ASCII.

Maybe I'm doing something wrong, but I fail to see what.

EDIT: After some playing with Options -> Filters -> ASCII it seems that even in binary mode FlashFXP uses this filter list.

So I think it's a bug.

Please discribe the exact steps you took to enable "Binary mode"

1. Do you have this option checked "Preferences / transfer tab / smart mode handling" ?

2. Did the ftp server status message state it was opening the file in ASCII mode?

I have smart mode handling enabled.
On the same tab I have set the transfer mode to "Binary (image)".

The ftp server states this:
Code:
[R] RETR Features.txt
[R] 150 Opening ASCII mode data connection for Features.txt (1900 bytes)
[R] 226 Transfer complete
I just tested this and toggling the smart mode handling doesn't seem to make a difference.

Could you please email me ( cdew@flashfxp.com ) a more complete copy of the ftp session log. I need all of the text from the login up until the file transfer. FlashFXP should send "TYPE I" after a file listing but prior to the file transfer.

Another possiblity is that perhaps the ftp server is forcing certain file types to be transferred in ASCII mode.

Hmmm, I did some more testing and at first I couldn't reproduce my bug.

But now I found out what caused it.

At first I had Preferences -> Transfer -> Transfer Mode set to Auto
but it seems FlasFXP ignores the changing to binar (image) until FlashFXP is restarted. So when I did my tests a few days ago, it was still using the auto setting even if the prefs seemed to indicate Binary.

I hope this is clear enough.

When you change the transfer mode via the Preferences this changed the default behavior on startup. It does not change the current settings.

To change the current behavior you need to use the Transfer Mode button or the menu, Session > Transfer Mode.

There are two different ways to change this setting, this allows the user to change the setting for the current session only and not have it saved on exit.
