Strange - CPU Usage 100% in the middle of uploading lots of small files
Hi there,
first a few technical details, that might help you further:
Machine:
Intel Pentium 4, 3.2 GHz
1024 MB RaM PC 3200
Windows 2000 Professional SP4
FlashFXP Version: 3.0.1015
What happens:
FlashFXP is working normal with one exception. If I try to upload a huge bunch of small html files to a server (560 hmtl files, size approx. 9 KB), then in the middle of the process, after about 250 files, the CPU Usage goes up to 100% and stays there. FlashFXP stops uploading.
I can only exit FlashFXP via strg/alt/del , killing the process.
When I try to restart FlashFXP then, it takes 2 minutes to start, the queue shows up and I click load. Immediatly it connects again, but then the CPU Usage goes up again to 100%. Then there is no other way to escape then pressing the reset button of my PC. Oooops?
I have tried the same thing with other FTP clients, even the old wsftp_LE (*g) works without any problems.
I get this only with FlashFXP. It's really strange. In common I am really satisfied with FlashFXP. It is just that one bug.
Pls help

This is really strange. I don't suppose you have disk based logging enabled? I would be very interested in seeing the last few lines from the status log prior to FlashFXP locking up. Also is there an errorlog.txt in the FlashFXP folder?
After rebooting did the problem continue to occur?
I just an upload of roughly 800 files small files to two different ftp servers and neither queue encountered any problems.

I am sorry, no errorlog.txt. And that other thing, disc based logging isn't enabled.
It doesn't matter to which server I upload, I get that result. Yes I know really strange, if it wouldn't be....would I report it here?
And really strange, it doesn't occur with other FTP clients. If it would though, I would consider something else.
Can I help you with anything else or any information?

I have the exact same problem, I'll be uploading tons of small files to a local machine... it'll be uploading like crazy then after a while it'll just lock and cpu is pinned. Maybe its hyperthreading? I have a p4 2.4 with ht enabled, I see you have a 3.2 etc. Not sure what the problem could be.

Try changing your upload packet size
Options > Preferences > Advanced Tab > Upload Packet Size
Try a value of 2048 or 8196. We're starting to see some odd compatiblity issues with the default value of 4096.
Please let me know if this makes any difference.
I have a P4 2.8GHZ with HT and I don't have this problem.

Well I uploaded one of the folders that caused me to lockup (1300~ small files) this time it didn't lockup but at one point it stopped because of this..
[L] PASV
[L] 502 pasv is not implemented.
[L] PORT 192,168,1,50,4,1
[L] 425 Can't open data connection to 0.0.0.0:0
hopefully changing the packet size fixes the locking up issue.

Hi there,
just wanted to tell that my above mentioned problem is solved.
Due to a harddisk crash, I had to reinstall my operating system and after that all is fine. So no worries FlashFXP could have caused it.
Thanks for help anyways
